Routing (Split Tunneling)

Routing allows you to decide when to route your traffic through the doxx.net network, and when to temporarily suspend it.

The strictest websites/apps will perform an IP lookup when you try to connect and ban certain IP origins. If none of the Covert Networking settings helped, Routing is the last resort.

1.How to set up

MacOS + iOS

For macOS + iOS the only routing settings available is Comms only. This routes all of your traffic through the public internet but allows you to keep your P2P connections open on Doxxcomms.

To turn on Routing in the iOS app navigate to: Account → Settings ⚙ → Connection Settings → Routing.

Android

The doxx.net Android app offers split tunneling. You can decide which apps route through the doxx.net network and which stay on the public internet.

To turn on Routing in the Android app navigate to: Account → Settings ⚙ → Connection Settings → Routing.

2.Common Questions

What are common apps in the Android Store that don’t work with doxx.net ?

Android Auto is the most common example. The moment they detect traffic from a recognized non personal IP, they will block usage of their map system. You can get around this by enabling split tunneling for only Android Auto. The rest of your traffic will be fully protected!
