Port Forwarding
Port Forwarding allows you to expose internal services from your LAN to the network.
September 30, 2026
Run a service on your own machine and make it reachable through your tunnel. Connect to development servers or any other service you want to access remotely.
Port Forwarding is included with Pro. A dedicated IP is a separate add-on on either plan for $10/month, billed monthly.
1.Important
- With a public dedicated IP, forwarded ports can be reachable from the internet, subject to your firewall and access rules.
- Without one IPv4 ports are reachable only through the doxx.net network.
- IPv6 ports are always publicly reachable.
Forwarded ports are accessible from the doxx.net network. Pair forwarding with firewall rules and strong authentication to control who can connect, and choose carefully which service to expose to who on the network.
2.Features
- Reach a service running on your own machine through its tunnel.
- Choose the service you want to make reachable, rather than treating the whole device as open.
- Use firewall rules to control who can connect.
To configure and expose services via doxx.net navigate to: Account → Settings ⚙ → Connection Settings → Port Forwarding.
3.Common Questions
Is this the same as giving every device access to each other?
Port forwarding directs incoming internet traffic on a specific port straight to a designated device inside your private home or office network. Private mesh access and firewall rules determine which devices can communicate.
Does a dedicated IP automatically open my ports?
No. Having an address and allowing access are separate things. You still need the appropriate service configuration and access rules.
Why can't I reach my service?
Check that the host is connected, the service is running and the intended port is allowed. If the service is private, also check that the device you're connecting from has permission to reach it.
